taut, tight & terrific

somehow, despite the 30-something temperatures outside, i've been entirely and very prematurely engulfed in winter culture over the last few weeks. all i've been thinking about is what stockings and scarves i'll be wearing with what shoes and dresses.. so here's to hoping that myer will still stock its usual abundance of stockings & tights when i go there in a week, regardless of which season we may or may not be in.

and so, in blatantly ignoring the next 6 months, this is what is on my winter woolies wishlist:

1. some tartaned goodness.

2. a pair of back-seamed stockings.
you know, the ones from way back when, the 50s i think. unfortunately they're a little bit stripper-esque and my last pair were uber-thin and so they contracted a pretty massive ladder somewhere in my travels..or possibly just in the wash.
the cool old lady next door said she used to draw the seam on the back with chalk, and i'd like to try that one day, but i think for now i'll just get a pair that are pre-seamed. so much less hassle!

3. my third-most wanted piece of awesome might have to be a DIY creation of my own, as i'm not entirely sure if tie-dyed stockings are sold anywhere near here, as of yet. haha. but dont they just sound perfect for a crazy sunday or a picnic or something. :)

4. any bright coloured stockings, preferably a pink or purple. gossip girl mostly inspired this.

5. and last but not least, just a pair of transparent white stockings, ala serena van der woodsen.
was hard to come across a picture of these. i know serena has worn them in loads of gg episodes, but the only image i could come across was of jenny humphrey.
hm, im thinking id like to steer away from opaque though.

also, i think i'd secretly like to get me into some legwarmers, too.

There's some things that i think should be experienced by everyone, at least once. Like finding the perfect icy cup, having chafe, and stumbling over a little slice of paradise on youtube. I get a bit embarrassed when non-Aussies can speak the English language better than us, but i no longer cared after watching this; a version of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah by 4 norwegian gods. MAKE SURE you wait it out to listen to the last singer, kurt nilsen. i promise his vocal chords and teeth are beyond worth the wait..

watch it here.

also, i've loved Boy With a Coin by Iron & Wine for yonks, but not thought about looking up the music video until i was shown it yesterday. i'm not sure if its supposed to be a courting dance or not, but i just love the pride in their eyes as they do it. the ending is a bit disappointingly shoddie with the special effects though..

watch it here.

..actually the credit for those last two sentences go completely to Maxwell not-Smart, not me at all, but i agree with all of it..so it was worth posting :)

hello life,

two years ago today I was beginning to notice the certain vibrancy of a boy within my network of friends, ish.
over the past year we had had noo contact whatsover other than a hello/hi/howdie here and there, mostly due to my take-too-much-don't-give-enough personality. here's the relevant bit: not too long ago i had an original thought of 'i think its time i try to patch things up a littlelot..' and so i confessed my miss to him.
(taking a pretty educated guess i figured that if saying 'i love you' is confessing your love, than saying 'i miss you' has got to have something to do with confessing your miss..)

but i didnt get the feeling of post-patch-up or smiles that i was expecting..not even close.
i dont even know anymore if it was the right thing to have done, his reply was all wrong. at least compared to the kooky image that i had conjured up in my head, what an unflushable :(
but in the end, i would rather be wendy than peter pan, so maybe i should let people drift away even if its not my first choice. hm.

oh the intensity of a first blog haha.

oh, and, i got a rather pricie desktop easel for jesus' birthday ! how fabulously shmashing is my family, really.

anddd alsoly, it turns out that i'm a super huge fan of leotards and beer, not at the same time. :) i'm actually really excited about this new little [second] discovery of mine.

wow i think ive already rambled too much for one night, apologies to your ex-braincells.
goodnight, au revoir, and ciao for now.
